Egyptian woman stabbed to death in Germany as a result of veil
Jul 3rd, 2009 | By Bikya Masr Staff | Category: NewsCAIRO: A German man outside of a Dresden, Germany, courtroom stabbed a 32-year-old Egyptian woman to death on Wednesday after she had won a defamation case against the man, Egypt’s Youm El Saba’a newspaper reported late Thursday. According to security sources in the German city, Marwa Al Sherbini, was stabbed.
Local news reported that Sherbini was three-months pregnant at the time. Her husband, who was finishing a scholarship at a German institute in genetics, was also shot outside the court, moments after the verdict had been handed down.
Reports say police shot him accidentally. It is unclear his status, with some reporting he was killed and others saying he is in critical condition.
Sherbini had filed a case against her killer, Alex, a 28-year unemployed German of Russian descent, in August 2008, after he had called her a “terrorist†on a Dresden street because she wears the higab – the Islamic headscarf that covers the hair.
He was fined 2,800 Euros for the insulting remarks.
The murder comes as Europe is in the midst of a battle over what Muslim women can wear. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said recently that the Niqab – the full covering of the face – is “not welcome in France.
The body will be flown back to Egypt for the burial and while the Egyptian foreign condemned the incident, the Egyptian Ambassador to Germany attempted to downplay the incident.
In a statement to Youm El Saba’a, Ramzy Ezz El Din denied the murder was part of a an organized hate movement against Arabs and Muslims, calling the murder “a regular incident, as terrorism exists all over the world.â€
As of Friday morning, no foreign news outlet had reported on the incident.

They hurt and stigmatized all the muslims allover the world. we should do any and everything to put an end to this hate crimes…,we should not let this incident just pass by. The whole world should know who is the real terrorist. Leader should know and aknowledge the consequences of their acts and remarks, “THE KILLING OF A VERY BRITTE LADY WHO IS THREE MONTH PREGNANT AND A MOTHER OF OTHER VERY YOUNG CHILD”. what could be worset than that…!

This is just too bad! I’m lost for words! And how was it possible to sneak a knife pass the court security?!! Or do they not have bodysearch and metal-detectors in German courts?
Anyhow, murder is a terrible crime, even more so when the motive is as in this case!

I was shocked of such inhumanumanly way this muslim martyre had to go to her rest and her baby who is not born yet and the crime seen full blood shed of the 3 victims.
Now what did this terrorrist killer gained from that and those who follow his bahaviour too?
We as the whole Muslim world and those who beleive that this is a horrible crime and should not happen and should not go without strict punishment share our condolances with the family of the martyre and express our sympathy for all of those who have been hurt from such terrible crime by this none human being.
We all have to learn a lesson that we will never allow racism to take place in our world.We should use the day of her death as a celebration of the end of racism.
I would like to ask how in the world someone goes to court room with a weapon? What is the security guard’s roll in the court? Was he really there when the killer started to attack her? Why he did not interfere before her husband did and as a result he became a third victim after the wife and her Fetus? How did he miss his target twice? sorry for the family and for the muslim world we should know that the majority of the German people do not support this it is an individuale case.
I am a Christian. More then that,I am a human! My thoughts and prayers are with this poor husband,his and his wifes families,and their friends. I learned of this story from my Egyptian,Muslim FRIEND. There is NO excuse why a weapon should show up in ANY courtroom. I hope this animal receives the highest punishment allowed by law. I am also dissapointed with the media in this country. They only tell us what THEY think is newsworthy. I understand they can’t report EVERYTHING. But THIS is newsworthy. It helps us understand more about what a ‘terrorist’ is!
