Egypt's Ittihad hoping for German manager Bucker
Sep 1st, 2009 | By Bikya Masr Staff | Category: Egyptian Sport, Football, SportCAIRO: Alexandria-based Egyptian football club Ittihad is looking to secure a deal that would bring German manager Theo Bucker back to Egypt to coach the squad. Bucker has previously managed Cairo-based giant Zamalek and Ismaily and his agent told Egyptian football website FilGoal.com that he is taking the offer seriously.
“Bucker initially agreed on Ittihad’s offer, but he needs more time to make his final decision,” his agent, Ahmed Abbas, told FilGoal.com.
“He ought to receive another bid from Ahli of Libya, and he could change his mind, if the awaited offer was more financially rewarding.”
According to reports surrounding the deal, Ittihad is expected to pay the German manager 20,000 Euros monthly for the job.
The rumors come as the Alexandria team began the current campaign poorly and saw the departure of manager Taha Basri, who was let go due to the dismal beginning.
Karam Morsi is temporary manager.
Bucker coached Ismaily in 2003 and then took command of Zamalek in 2005-2006. He is currently managing Al Wahda in Saudi Arabia, but obviously has a place in his heart for Egypt.
Only three weeks into this season, 6 clubs, including Zamalek, Ittihad and Masri have fired their coaches.
