The title of this blog determines what I want to conclude, which is the importance of nominating Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei as the only candidate for the presidential election and for those calling for change in Egypt, and to identify his media messages, and political agenda in clear and specific points.
First: choosing Dr. ElBaradei as the only candidate, as every other candidate, is an obstacle to the possibility of change, and a strong fragmentation of the reform without meaning that we have doubts in their ability for any of these tasks. With respect to everyone, when they continue to present themselves as candidates for the presidency on the grounds that Dr. ElBaradei did not accept officially the nomination yet, and under the pretext that he is not expected to be eligible in light of the current constitutional obstacles, means that they do recognize these obstacles existent in the current constitution, which they have long sought to change them, which raises numerous questions about their position .
Their participation in the upcoming presidential election without a candidate that enjoys a popular consensus is a betrayal of the process of change, and the entrenchment of the Constitution that would only lead to the inheritance and bequeathal of power, and the continuation of the situation as it is.
Our first demand is loyal Egyptians should relinquish their candidacy for presidency in favor of Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, even if the government does not accept constitutional amendments, we must keep the rally for Dr. ElBaradei going, and we must keep on calling for his presidency of Egypt; and without a fair election, including Dr. ElBaradei as a candidate, we must continue to demand his candidacy for the position of the presidency, as this would be means for pressuring for change.
Secondly: the identification of the media message and the political program of Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, as the two are intertwined. For the successful campaign to get Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei to the presidency of Egypt, its media message should be defined in a number of points:
First: Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei did not nominate himself for the presidency, but he was asked to do so by the strong grassroots movements, and Dr. ElBaradei responded to the popular calls, and therefore he is the only candidate who is no longer looking for competition for access to power, just for the sake of power itself.
Second: The popular forces, which called for the nomination of Dr. ElBaradei, does not represent one political trend, but represents a combination of all the components of the Egyptian people.
Third: Dr. ElBaradei did not provide a detailed program for the reform of the conditions in Egypt, but he provides democracy, and allows political freedoms, and to limit the survival of the president in office for only two terms, and the peaceful rotation of power, and fair elections, and to preserve human rights and dignity of the citizen, he offers this as a tool capable of achieving economic and cultural change that could be created by the manner of the Egyptian people. All Egyptians who try to play a significant role in the Renaissance.
Fourth: To confirm that the problems experienced by Egypt mainly due to the monopoly of power and electoral fraud and the withholding of important political forces to participate actively, and violation of human rights and public freedoms.

News just “leaked” from a credible source as we learned this morning in “Good Morning Egypt:”
Al Wafd struck a deal with the Government – they are guaranteed 23 seats in Parliament through “fair and free elections” conditioned upon them NOT supporting Dr. El Baradei.
Isn’t it great to have an “opposition”???
wow, do you have any confirmation on this? Please let us know. Is this the beginning of the end again for the opposition?
Good morning admin
Sorry – I haven’t checked back on this article. The news broke in an article in Al Masr Al Yom on the 14th of March and was hotly debated in Mona Shazly’s “10 o’clock” show. It goes without saying that everything is denied.
The guest at Mona’s (Al Masr Al Yom but I can’t remember who it was) said that they were even shown lists with the names assigned to the 23 seats. Maybe you can get a transcript from Mona’s show. It was very interesting
BTW – admin – did we ever have a true opposition over the last 40 or so years? Just wondering whether you know something I’m not aware of …
